The Peach Truck came to town last weekend and I got a 25 pound box of beautiful peaches (for those of you keeping count, that was 83 peaches.) I’ve given some of them away, because my worst nightmare is to have a big supply of gorgeous, delicious produce and to not get through it before it spoils, but I’m doing my best to stand over the sink and gobble them up, juices running down my arm. I’ve made a galette and have big plans this weekend to tackle some more peach-related projects. If you want your own peaches, they’re coming back to this area on July 26 and you’d better believe I’m getting another box.

I got a Nespresso Vertuo last winter to add to our kitchen countertop, already laden with coffee makers. This one has risen to the top of the Keurig, drip maker, stovetop espresso maker, and French press. I love that I can make lattes at home, and Mark can use the same machine to make a cup of coffee. I fully admit that I’m susceptible to new, fancy coffee makers, but I have high hopes that this one is here to stay.

The Cuisinart Smart Stick hand blender is one of my longtime kitchen workhorses. My girlfriend Stacey gave it to me for my birthday probably 10 years ago, and it is still going strong. I use it to make salad dressings, marinades, baby food purees, and huge quantities of pesto. I forget that it has other attachments, and I’m going to try to remember that this is the perfect appliance to use for a two-person serving of whipped cream when I make another peach galette this weekend.

I bought this Dave’s Killer Bread Good Seed Thin-Sliced loaf at Meijer last week and loved the taste. Much to my surprise, Eddie started asking for bread this week and, one day, ate three slices of peanut butter toast. Not only do Mark and I like this bread, but the 2.5 year old does too. Is “miracle” too strong a word?

For someone who hates sweet scents, I love lavender. Got an essential oil? I’ll get the diffuser. Is there a lavender plant in your yard? Unleash me on it and I’ll make you a killer pound cake. I’ve been using this lotion on myself but also on Jane after her little baby baths at night. I give her a foot rub, get her all nice and relaxed, and that little lady almost floats right into her crib.
