A few years ago, after hearing SO MUCH about their incredible return/exchange policy, I dipped a toe into shopping at Nordstrom.
Because of where I live (I love you mid-Michigan), most of my purchases were made online. And when you hear that you can return anything to Nordstrom, people, believe it. I once ordered a pair of pants. I wore them twice in three years, finally admitted that I hated them, and returned them.
I ordered a pair of shoes. I wore them to an outdoor party. They left huge blisters on my feet so I returned them. I had worn them outside! It was crazy!
However, I don’t like to take advantage of the policy, and when I find something that I love, I keep it, tell everyone about it, and, in many cases, buy multiples as gifts for friends. Here are our top three examples- one for each human family member.

Historically, jeans have not been a priority for me. They always fit weird, and I don’t wear them during the week, so I never tried to find a pair that I loved. But after my friend Melissa recommended these AG The Farrah Skinny Ankle Jeans, I totally changed my tune. These suck me in, but are still comfortable. They are the perfect length without being tailored. These, in short, make me want to wear jeans. You can see these in action in the family photo at the top of this post.

A few years ago for Christmas, I bought for Mark a Patagonia Better Sweater vest in navy. He LOVED it. I mean, loved it. This year we added the full-zip version in gray to his wardrobe, which he is wearing in the family photo at the top of this post. I also gave my brother a blue half-zip, and now he has the red half-zip as well. I even brought Dad in on the action this year and we gifted him with the green half-zip, which is in heavy rotation as we bumble through winter. These babies are warm and look nice- not an easy feat in men’s winter clothing.

Finally we come to the cutest Lawrence, Baby Eddie. For months, I couldn’t figure out how to keep his feet warm. I would put socks on him and he would immediately yank them off. I would put shoes on him and they would fall off, or he would kick them off with one flick of his chubby little baby leg. Finally, I ordered these Freshly Picked Leather Moccasins, and he has worn them almost everyday since I ordered them last October. I swear I didn’t plan this, but he is wearing them in the family photo too! The elastic is tight enough so he can’t pull them off, and I can layer a sock underneath to make sure that he is warm enough. I know they are little, and I never thought that I would be obsessing about baby footwear, but these were a lifesaver when temperatures plummeted and we were cramming his feet into ill-fitting boots on Mackinac Island. I just ordered him a bigger size and will keep him in these until he is walking on his own.
Nordstrom, I love you. Never change.
