One of my favorite things to read on the Internet is the daily routine of interesting people, and Andrea Kerbuski certainly fits the bill. She’s a Senior Account Executive at Martin Waymire Public Relations Firm. She’s a fabulous and successful blogger at Blonde Bedhead, having built a cult following over the last ten years. She’s a newly-minted fitness instructor at FLEXcity Fitness, the gym we both love to attend. She’s an equestrienne, a home improvement maven, and has one of the most glorious heads of hair I’ve ever seen. I’ve frequently wondered how Andrea finds time to fit in everything that she’s passionate about and I’m happy to have the opportunity to get a little peek into the secret to her success.
Walk me through your day. I wake up between 7 and 8 a.m. It takes me very little time to get ready in the morning since I pick out my outfits the night before and I always take my shower at night. Also with age, I wear a lot less make up- just a little tinted moisturizer and usually that’s enough thanks to lash extensions. I feed James (her dog), and he usually sleeps as long as I do, but I have a foster dog right now so I get up a little earlier than usual to feed them both and take them on a morning walk.
I get to work around 8:30 and eat the Perfect Bar and drink the Red Bull I packed for my daily breakfast and usually grab a water at the office. We moved into a new office space almost a year ago and my office is maybe a mile away so I have a short commute! We all have private offices, but I’ve become so accustomed to open office spaces that I sit in the community space at a tall table with my colleague Jessica. Our dogs come to work so they usually burn off the morning energy with some play before retiring to their respective dog beds where they lay like little potatoes the rest of the day.
I usually have a mix of client meetings and calls each day which shapes what I choose to wear for the day. If I have client meetings, I usually wear faux leather leggings paired with an oversized sweater or tunic or cropped wide leg pants with a tee tucked in or a cropped sweater and ankle boots. If I wear a dress, it’s usually a cozy maxi dress. If I have no in person client meetings, you can bet I’m wearing my gym clothes to the office for my noon workout at FLEXcity Fitness and I stay in the workout clothes in my sweat the rest of the day. A group of us in the office workout together so we might play rock paper scissors for who has to drive us and we get our sweat on together, usually picking up lunch together after, usually grabbing soup or Thai food. If I meal planned that particular week, I’d have either turkey tacos or a simple pasta with butter, chicken, and roasted broccoli packed in the refrigerator at the office.
Martin Waymire is super flexible so if I have an appointment or just need an hour or two to work from home, I’ll do that and work more once I’m home. There’s always something a client needs or some project to get ahead of–and I hate having emails so I always make sure to take care of client emails ASAP no matter the time of the day.
I used to be able to be fun after work, but now I’m selfish with my time. Now that I own my home, I prefer to unwind at home after work and I stick to my rule of “no plans outside the house after 7.” I feed James around 5 p.m. and take him on another walk and we might settle in on the couch so I can do some work or catch up on blog work while watching something on repeat on Netflix. Right now its the Great British Baking Show that I’m rewatching. I’ll either heat up leftovers or make something simple for dinner. Weeknights aren’t the days I get crazy with making homemade food, I’ll do that over the weekends and make enough to last during the week. Dinners might be breakfast (eggs, toast and bacon or a breakfast sandwich), grilled cheese with roasted veggies, a cheese and meat plate or tacos! If Matt (her boyfriend) comes over, he might grab us tacos from El Oasis Taco Truck, our favorite place.

If I do anything after work, it’s usually running to Retail Therapy (a fabulous boutique in Old Town Lansing) to shoot some photos or videos for the shop’s social media accounts or I might grab a burger with coworkers at Harry’s, my neighborhood bar or run to grab groceries at Meijer.
By 8 p.m., I’ve already showered and in my pajamas. I used to lay down for bed around this time, but with Matt, he usually pops over for an hour or two to hang out and I go to bed after 10. He keeps me young! And I’ll spend the evenings picking up the house, catching up on laundry and tackling little projects like going through kitchen drawers, organizing my closet room or vacuuming. I hate vacuuming. I’m never great at deep cleaning my house, but I hate clutter and everything must go to its rightful place by the time I go to bed.
My daily priorities include: taking care of my client needs and getting my email inbox down to zero every night, taking care of tasks on my at work to do list and at home to do list every day (keeps me sane and on track!), working out (I work out 5-6 days a week), making sure James is fed, exercised and happy and making sure my house is somewhat in order.
What is one thing you do every single day? Something I do every day: I always work. No days off since I have a demanding day job, but also a blog and freelance PR and photography work that I love so everyday, there’s something to do for a client, for my blog whether it’s writing blog posts or snapping photos! I also call and bother my mom at least once a day.
Thank you for sharing your day with us, Andrea! And thank you for introducing me to lash extensions. What is one thing that YOU do every day? Do you drink lemon water? Do you do a sun salutation? I’m always trying to think of little things I can implement to make my day nicer.
